e911 Services
Fortis Telecom 911 service functions differently than traditional 911.
We register the street address where you will be using your Fortis Telecom Digital Telephone Service into our 911 database.
When you dial 911, your telephone number and registered address is automatically sent to the emergency dispatch center assigned to your location, so emergency service operators will have the information they need for dispatchers to send help and to call you back if necessary.
If the public safety agencies in your area are unable to receive your address and telephone number electronically, our 911 services operator will answer your 911 call and then verbally communicate that information to the emergency services dispatcher via a three-way voice bridge. You will hear our operator communicating with the dispatch center.
We automatically upgrade to electronic transmission when emergency centers become E911 Ready. This is transparent to you and you will not be notified.
911 Dialing service will not function in the event of a broadband or power outage or if your Fortis Telecom Digital Telephone Service is terminated.
Please see our Terms of Service for more information about our 911 Dialing feature.
